Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen are jointly launching an eight-part podcast Renegades: Born in the USA The first two episodes of the series have been available exclusively on Spotify since this week.
The former US president and rock star addresses topics such as politics, fatherhood, marriage and masculinity during personal conversations in the podcast series.
The production company of Obama and his wife Michelle is producing Renegades: Born in the USA. Spotify calls the collaboration between Obama and Springsteen a "personal, in-depth discussion between two friends about their past, their beliefs and the country they love".
Obama and Springsteen have been close friends for over 10 years. They met in 2008 when Obama was successfully campaigning to become the first African-American president of the United States. In 2016, Obama presented Springsteen with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest award for American citizens.
Spotify has recently made a big push into the podcast market. The streaming service previously laid Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle and Joe Rogan As podcasters whose podcasts can only be listened to on Spotify.
Barack and Michelle Obama already signed a contract with Spotify in 2019 to create exclusive podcasts for the streaming service. Michelle previously released her series, The Michelle Obama Podcast.
With this podcast, another special podcast has been added to the Spotify collection.
