As a podcaster, you want your podcast to sound good. Nothing is more annoying than listening to a podcast where the sound, well, sucks. You can seriously lose listeners because of poor audio quality. In fact, research shows that this is one of the biggest aggravations among podcast listeners, if not the biggest.

As a podcaster, you also want to be able to use the latest tools, techniques and strategies for your podcast website to make your podcast a success. More often than not, you don't have the time to try out a new tool or spend hours editing your podcast. You probably want a tool that you know works and that allows you to quickly and easily create a professional result, especially for enterprise podcasts!

We at Springcast want to make things as easy as possible for you. That's why we offer an audio tool that instantly improves your sound. We call it: Audio Polish.

Say what?

The name says it all: this tool polishes your audio and makes it sound better. Audio Polish does this by first analysing the sound of your podcast and then improving it where necessary. It's like a filter that you use for your photos on social media, but for audio.

Does that exclude you from working on your sound altogether? That would be nice, wouldn't it? 😉 The truth is: you yourself have a huge influence on the sound of your podcast.

The basics

Good audio quality starts with good recording equipment. Do you want your podcast to sound professional and fun to listen to? Maker sure you invest in good equipment. It doesn't have to be expensive. You can even record a podcast with your iPhone or Android while maintaining good quality.

When you have recorded your podcast, it is time to edit. An important part of this phase is checking whether your audio is good enough and making improvements where necessary. Perhaps you're good at editing, but we can imagine this is not your cup of tea. That's okay, because audio editing is a craft.

And that's where Audio Polish comes in!

With this new feature, you can improve your audio at the touch of a button.

How does it work?

We understand that you are curious as to what exactly is being improved when using Audio Polish. That's why we've listed the specs for you:

Frequency Filter

Analyses the sound frequencies (high, mid, low) in your sound file and filters low frequencies that can be perceived as disturbing.

Loudness Normalization

Balances out speakers, music and speech. Audio Polish levels peaks and reduces volume differences.

Loudness Target

Brings the average volume of your podcast to -16 LUFS. If you polish all your episodes, they all have the same average volume.

Noise reduction

Reduces and removes noise where possible.

But...

... prevention is better than cure. Make sure you record your podcast with a good microphone, use the right microphone technique and record your podcast in a room with good acoustics and as little ambient noise as possible.

How does it sound?

Authenticity is key when it comes to podcasting! The same goes for your audio. The Audio Polish settings are subtle, but make a real difference. Just listen to our own audio test. The first file is the original. The second file is polished.
