This was on our wish list for quite some time. And we know many Springcasters were asking for this feature as well. As we're releasing a new version of the Springcast platform, we can honor these wishes and implement this feature. Pause for reaction 🙌🏼
This means that you can now transcribe all of your podcast episodes. In this article we'll explain how it works, what you need and how to use this tool. So sit back, relax and read on ;D
Benefits of podcast transcription
But before we get to that, let me tell you why it pays off to transcribe your podcast. After all, there are great advantages to having a text version of your podcast. Let's take a look, shall we?
Listening to a podcast is a nice experience. At least we'd like to think so. But sometimes you want to reread things you've heard. Or you want more information about the content of a podcast. With a transcription, your audience has the information right at hand. It's like an extra service to your listener.
With a transcription of your podcast, you can easily share quotes from your podcast on social media. Because the text is already available, all you have to do is copy the segment you want to use.
The content you share in your podcast is valuable. After all, you're releasing this podcast because you have a story to tell. However, not everyone listens to a podcast. And you obviously want to share your story with the biggest audience possible. By transcribing your podcast, you reach an audience you wouldn't otherwise reach. Like people who are hearing impaired, or those who don't really like to listen to a podcast. With a transcription, you can easily share your story with this audience.
Marketers know: SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is thé way to go to get higher ranks with the search engines. Publish a podcast transcription and you're easier to find. After all, audio files are hard to search for. You can obviously tackle that by creating a killer description and add SEO keywords to your podcast episodes (which is possible within the Springcast dashboard). But publish a podcast transcription on your podcast website and you'll be way easier to find online.
How does the Amberscript integration work?
Allright. So it pays off to use a podcast transcription. But how does it work? Well, quite simple actually. You can use the Amberscript integration with an Growth subscription. Before you get started, you need to make sure you get two things in order.
Steps to take before using the Amberscript integration:
- Create an account at Amberscript
- Link this account to your Springcast account
That's it ;D
So, in order to use this feature, you need a paid subscription with Amberscript. You can then link this account to your Springcast account. Want to know exactly how to do that? Read the step-by-step guide in our Knowledge Base.
Once you've linked both accounts, it's time to get started. You can transcribe your podcast episode in your Springcast dashboard with just one push of a button. Depending on the length of your episode this can take 15 to 20 minutes.
Once the transcription is ready, you can still edit it where necessary. When you are satisfied with the text, you can save it. The text will now appear as subtitles in your Embedded Player.
Embedded Player with subtitles
That's right! The podcast transcription now also appears in your Embedded Player as subtitles. This means you can read along real time while you're listening. Yeah, we're excited too 🙂

Also: notice the visual upgrade? We took the liberty of changing the look and feel of the Embedded Player. If you want to know more about this, check out the article about our new and improved Springcast platform. When it comes to the look of your player, you can choose four looks:
- Springcast colours
- Dark
- Light
- Custom (this allows you to customise the player to your own brand colours)
So new to the Embedded Player is that the subtitles automatically appear at the bottom of the player. How cool is that! Already have Embedded Player on your channels and Growth subscription with Springcast? Then you don't need to do anything else. The update is automatically applied to all players. So when you have your Amberscript integration sorted out, you are basically good to go 🙂
Coming soon: transcription on your website
In addition, the transcription of your podcast will soon be available on your podcast website. Once you have converted your podcast into text and saved it, this text will appear prominently on the episode page. Very useful for listeners who want to read the content of your episode or use it (for example) as study material.
For organisations that have an obligation to share a transcript of their podcast, this integration is ideally suited. And the great thing is, you no longer have to switch between two channels. You can control the entire transcription process within your Springcast dashboard. We will keep you posted and let you know when the full transcription is also available on your website!
